Landrieu’s GOP Endorsements Pale In Comparison To 2008 Election

Back in 2008, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) received quite the support from some Republican politicians throughout the state. In 2014, however, that is not the case. According to a news release from 2008, Landrieu claimed to have been supported by 27 GOP elected officials during her re-election campaign. After some analysis though, only 15 Republican politicians throughout the state were found to have supported Landrieu, at least publicly. Those GOP politicians included the following: Fast forward to today’s 2014 Senate race and Landrieu’s GOP endorsements have dwindled. Today, Landrieu is supported by 34 Louisiana legislators, most from the Legislative Black Caucus and Orleans Parish, 8 Sheriffs, 7 of whom are Democrats, 5 District Attorneys who are all Democrats, 3 Parish Presidents who are Democrats, 4 Tax Assessors who are all Democrats and 72 Mayors. The only Republican politicians who endorsed Landrieu back in 2008 and are endorsing her again this time around are Hammond Mayor Mayson Foster and Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts. The rest of the 15 GOP politicians are not on Landrieu’s list of endorsements. To see the public officials in your parish who have endorsed Landrieu in the Senate race, here is the complete list:
